Der Canonical-Tag
Man hält es nicht für möglich, aber die großen der Branche Google, Yahoo und Microsoft haben sich zusammengesetzt und wollen etwas gegen den unbeabsichtigten Double Content tun. Ich hab´s zuerst bei Prometeo gelesen: Ganz neu gibt es ein Linkattribut rel=”canonical”. Während wir rel=”nofollow” ja schon alle kannten, ist dies wirklich neu. Doch wozu das Ganze?
Die Idee dahinter ist, dass es häufig vorkommt, daß einzelne Seiten unter verschiedenen URLs indiziert werden, z.B.:
http://www.domain.de/seite.html
und
http://www.domain.de/seite.html?sort=DESC
http://www.domain.de/seite.html?session=ABC123 oder
http://www.domain.de/seite.html?view=print
Letzteres könnte hier z.B. eine angepasste Druckversion der Seite sein. Der Inhalt bleibt (weitgehend) gleich, nun sind aber 2 URLs im Suchmaschinenindex. So weit, so schlecht. Nun soll man also den Suchmaschinen sagen können, welches denn nun die “richtige” URL der Seite ist. Hierzu würde man im <head>-Bereich der Seite folgendes eingefügt:
<link rel=”canonical” href=”http://www.domain.de/seite.html” />
und schon ignorieren die Suchmaschinen die Variante mit ?view=print dahinter, und alles ist Gut.
Gerade SessionIDs sind bei einigen CMS und vielen Shop-Systemen zu einem Problem geworden, das hierdurch gelöst wird. Bei Thomas wird gezeigt, wie man zumindest den SessionIDs beikommen kann, ohne den neuen Tag zu benutzen, er verwendet hierfür einfach die .htaccess-Datei.
Für alle Wordpress-Blogger gibt es bereits ein Plugin von Yoast auch für Magento und Drupal. Übrigens, so die Aussage der “Macher” soll durch die Benutzung des Canonical-Attributs auch PageRank und Linkpower an die “Haupt”-URL weitergegeben werden. Bisher hat sich dies auf die vorhandenen - oftmals hunderte - URLs verteilt. Das freut einen natürlich besonders.
Ob die Neuentwicklung nun wirklich notwendig war, möge jeder für sich selbst entscheiden. Durch saubere Programmierung kann man solche Probleme von vornherein ausschließen. Die Möglichkeit, die eigene Nachlässigkeit durch ein solches Tag zu kurieren, verführt natürlich dazu, sich mit dem Problem eben nicht direkt auseinanderzusetzen.
